Event Details

The plan for the 2024 Vic Champs Rogaine is to go to Whroo, an historic gold mining township in northern Victoria 7km south of Rushworth. The course might include some of the Rushworth State Forest, and a north eastern area of Redcastle-Greytown state forest. The 24hr event will be the 46th Victorian 24hr Rogaining Championships and the 18th Nigel Aylott Memorial Rogaine. The 6hr rogaine is a non-championship event.

Event Entry Fees

6hr rogaine
Adults $40
Juniors (under 18) $25, free entry when in a team with an adult.

24hr rogaine
Adults $55
Juniors (under 18) $25, free entry when in a team with an adult.

Final Instructions and Start location

Final instructions will be available on the VRA website from Tuesday 8th October. The Final Instructions will include details of the start location, how to get there, important information about the event, and the Indemnity Form.

Please print out and complete the Indemnity Form and ensure you bring it to the event. All team members must sign the form.

Please note that no pets are allowed at rogaines either on course or at the Hash House.

Please read our information about Biosecurity in Rogaining and make sure your equipment is clean before you leave home.

Mandatory equipment

Each team member must carry a compass, a whistle and a headlamp or torch. Lights and compasses on smartphones do not meet this requirement and will not be allowed.

Each team must also carry a mobile phone and a first aid kit. This should contain as a minimum:
- 1 heavyweight compression bandage for snakebites
- 1 roller bandage
- 1 triangular bandage (or blood absorbent cotton pads)
- sticking plaster
- VRA first aid instruction sheet

These are available from Admin if needed.

There will be a friendly equipment check before registration.

Event Timeline

Saturday
9:00 am     Registration opens and maps issued. Planning time is 3 hours for a 24hr Championship event
11:45 am   Briefing – All must attend
12:00pm    Rogaine mass start
5:00 pm     (Approximate) Food at the Hash House begins
6:00 pm     6hr event finishes
6:10 pm     6hr rogaine presentation

All night    Food at the Hash House will run overnight (pending volunteer numbers)

Sunday
12:00pm    24hr rogaine finishes
12:20pm    24hr Championship presentation

Accommodation

Camping will be available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights at the Hash House site. The nearest commercial accommodation will be at Rushworth or Nagambie.

Hash House Meal

6hr rogaine A sausage sizzle will be provided by a service club at the end of the 6hr Rogaine. The VRA will provide soup, pasta, hot water, tea, coffee, and Milo. Please bring your own bowl, cutlery, mug, and chair.

24hr Rogaine There will be no sausage sizzle overnight or on Sunday morning. The VRA will aim to provide soup and pasta overnight and cereal for breakfast on Sunday morning with soup and pasta for lunch on Sunday. Hot water, tea, coffee, and Milo should be available from 6pm Saturday and throughout the night. Overnight catering will be dependent on volunteer numbers. Please bring your own bowl, cutlery, mug, and chair.
