Who’s Grandma? 2x6hr Rogaine (13 & 14 April 2024)
Saturday 6hr - Saturday 13 April 2024
Sunday 6hr - Sunday 14 April 2024
Despite some unusual and challenging circumstances leading up to it, the Who’s Grandma? 2x6hr Rogaine opened bush rogaining for the year in style, with over 450 rogainers joining as at Enfield. We welcomed many new rogainers and had around 40 novices take part in a bumper weekend of training over both days.
The course was pleasant to move through with lots of tracks and undulating terrain. There was fairly open country to the west which allowed for fast going underfoot with some thicker scrub in parts of the east. For some teams the course took deceptively longer to cover, so well done to our final winners:
Saturday
1st: Paul Monks, Alaster Meehan 1640 points
2nd: Tom Lothian, Kate Gavens 1620 points
3rd: Ed Steenbergen, Helen Steenbergen 1610 points
Sunday
1st: Glen White, Callum White 1960 points
2nd: Luke Haines, Lloyd Del 1780 points
3rd: Clare Brownridge, Andrew Mccarthy 1630 points
We are very grateful to Don, Noel, Stephen Guy & family for allowing us use of their land and picturesque, centrally placed lakeside Hash House. We all enjoyed gathering at rogaine’s end for the superb BBQ provided by the fantastic team from the Buninyong Lion’s Club, who kept the sausages and veggie burgers coming like clockwork – thank you for coming to feed us again! Thanks also to Phil Jelliff and the crew for the delicious vats of soup and pasta.
Thank you to our brilliant coaches Vic Sedunary, Don Baker, Kerry Williams, Paula Horton, Steve Horton, Marcelle Gannon, Paul Monks, Sue Noy, Merv Trease for co-ordinating the Bogong trainees and Norm O’Bryan for organising the Sunday training. We hope to see all trainees at many rogaines to come!
