Campaspe Confluence 6/12hr Rogaine (13 September 2025)

Connie Confluence couldn’t be happier, the rogaine is run and won in the same week the State Government started the process to declare the Wombat State Forest a National Park.  The whole day was run in cool but clear conditions, with teams crossing the varying terrain of the upper Campaspe and Lerderderg river systems.  The sward grass delivered as promised and plenty of teams reported back on the joys of pushing through it as they moved east or west across the course. 

When Rod and Nick set the course they wanted give everybody a challenge, reward hard work and put a challenge out the clear the course.  We deliberately set high scoring controls near the Hash House and plenty of novice and teams with young kids were pleased to a 100 pointer near the hash house.  It was fantastic to see that one team (Narelle Crozier and Kathryn Preston) were up to the challenge taking and clearing the entire course of 45 controls in under 12 hours and covering nearly 60km to do so.  In the 6 hour Elizabeth Dornom and Shelly Bambrook put in a huge effort to clear nearly two thirds of the course.

2nd – Rod Gray, Morag Stewart, Hamish Dixon.. (2430pts)
3rd – Clare Brownridge, Glen White, Andrew Mccarthy. (2430pts)

1st – Elizabeth Dornom, Shelley Bambrook (1730pts)
2nd – Brett Infanti, Adrian Infanti. (1520pts)
3rd – Gleb Belov, Tim Plozza. (1370pts)

Well done to the top 3 teams in the 12 hour event, all of which were either female or mixed. And second and 3^rd who were equal on points and only separated on time by 4 minutes.  A shout top Vic and Merve for winning the mens category and showing experience trumps youthful vigour. 

For most of us rogaining is about a challenging walk in the bush followed by a meal and a yarn at the Hash House. The course certainly delivered the first part and the catering team lead by Ainslie and Peter delivered two amazing spreads for both finishes.  Thanks to the Ballan Lions Club for the 6 hour sausage sizzle.
