Won Wron Forest Frolic May 6/12hr Rogaine (16 May 2026)

Gippland welcomed us on Saturday with beautiful weather and amazing countryside and a light show at night. Set in the Won Wron state forest the course ranged over gently sloping hills with some truly spectacular vegetation of basksi groves and grass trees tall enough to walk under. It wasn’t all milk and honey with some tough scrub to get through and subtle terrain to test every team. The 6 and 12 hour events were run under blue skies and warm temperatures, which is amazing for mid May.

Well done to every team that competed. The 12 hour was taken out by Alastair Meehan and Paul Monks, adding to many victories over the past few years. It was a close run thing with three other teams within a few points of their score. For the 6 hour we had Ed and Helen Steenbergen with a narrow win over second place

The winner, as always, was rogaining with many satisfied people enjoying a meal and a chat after the event.

Thanks to the wonderful event team led by Liz and Shelly, who again put together another great course. Special mention to Paula and Steve for vetting and helping out on the weekend along with grant for gear and Norm and Boris for leading the catering team. 3rd – Adrian Harper, Joel Claxton. (1100pts)

Note: One of the finish punches failed on Saturday – the results have all be carefully checked to ensure the ordering is correct but the exact finish time for some teams can’t be determined.
