Event Details

A Saturday only 6hr Rogaine with features use by Rogaines over the past 50 years.  To celebrate 50 years of rogaining we are planning a 6hr rogaine and party.  Rogaining and Technology has evolved over the years. We’ll include in this event some features which are now history.  Some checkpoints may be pin punch and scorecard, some maybe coordinates supplied and teams need to map them themselves, some maybe checkpoints to be copied from a master map to the teams maps.  Some Checkpoints may old use the original checkpoint markers used and some of the original features from the 1976 first rogaine will be re-used.  Relive some of the history of rogaining and join the post event party.  We hope to present a larger range of catering after the event.

Volunteers Needed

Rogaines could not run without volunteers. If you have any friends who would like to help us while you storm the course, to date we still have several volunteer roles to fill.

There are many ways you can volunteer without missing out on doing the event. The great thing about having two separate 6hr events over one weekend is that you could enter one day and volunteer on the other, or you could help with setup before, or collecting checkpoints after the event.

Location Description

This rogaine we hope to run in the Heathcote area.

Map

The map is likely to be at 1:25,000 scale with 10m contours, printed on SRA3 non-waterproof paper. Maybe not all the checkpoints will be pre-printed.

Entry details

Entries will open about a month before the event – early bird entry will be available until the end of Wednesday 14th October 2026, regular fees apply until Wednesday 21st October 2026.  We do not accept any new team entries after 21st October 2026 including no entries on the day.  We do accept team changes including on the day although as you to make your team changes online before 21st October 2026 if possible please.

Final Instructions and Start location

The final instructions will include details of the start location, how to get there, important information about the event, and the Indemnity Form.  Final Instructions will be available on the website from Tuesday 20th October.

Please print out and complete the Indemnity Form attached to the final instructions and ensure you bring it to the event. All team members must sign the form.

Please note that no pets are allowed at rogaines either on course or at the Hash House.

Please read our information about Biosecurity in Rogaining and make sure your equipment is clean before you leave home.

Mandatory equipment

For safety reasons we require each participant to have the equipment listed below, and a first aid kit and mobile phone per team. When you come to register with your team, you’ll be asked to confirm that you are carrying this equipment before you can get your map and tags. Please check you have the required mandatory gear so you can confirm you have all of it.

Mandatory items Per Person:
- compass
- whistle (A digital compass on a phone is not accepted.)
- headlamp/torch (A torch on a phone is not accepted.)

Mandatory items Per Team:
- mobile phone
- first aid kit - should contain, as a minimum, 1 heavyweight compression bandage for snakebite, 1 roller bandage, 1 triangular bandage (or blood absorbent cotton pads), sticking plaster, and the VRA first aid instruction sheet.

These items (except for mobile phones) will be available for sale at Event Admin if needed. Compasses can also be hired on the day. Payment is card only.
We recommend installing the Emergency Plus Australia App on your mobile phone. The App displays the GPS coordinates of your current location which, if you can phone or text them to the emergency number of our event map, we can easily find you if lost.

Event Timeline

Planned timeline assuming a 10am start however we may do an 11am start :

8:00am     Admin opens for registration, map and Navlight collection
9:45am     Briefing – all must attend
10:00am   Rogaine starts
3:00pm     Catering opens (sausage sizzle, soup, pasta and some cake) and More we hope
4:00pm     Rogaine finishes
4:10pm     Results presentation

Presentations are based on teams that have finished – it is possible a late finishing team could still win a category but be omitted from the presentation. Late teams will be included in the results that appear on the website.

Accommodation

Limited camping will be available at the Hash House Friday and Saturday nights.

Hash House Meal

We'll have our normal catering and hopefully more. Our normal catering is a sausage sizzle will be provided by a service club at the end of each day's event, this includes a couple of sausages or a veggie burger each. Depending on availability of volunteers, the VRA will also supply a hearty meal of hot soup and pasta, plus cake, hot water, tea, coffee, and Milo. Please bring your own chair, plate, bowl, cup, and cutlery.
