John Sheahan  9 May 1938 – 8 December 2024

Monday 13 January 2025

We were very sorry to learn that John Sheahan died late last year after his extended battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He and his wife Jenny were keen rogainers and great VRA volunteers including as leaders in making the VRA Schools competition so successful. These efforts were recognised by the Victorian Rogaining Association in naming the John and Jenny Sheahan Schools trophy for what was for a long time a mid-year highlight event (until risk aversion within schools curtailed this type of activity).

Rogaining was not the only area in which John contributed, and he was made a life member of Orienteering Victoria in 2013. He and Jenny were the second recipients of the Victorian Services Award, and John was president of Bayside Kangaroos for 11 years from 2006 – 2017.  John also served on the Board of Orienteering Victoria. We acknowledge Orienteering Victoria for some of these details.

To Jenny and the extended Sheahan family we extend our sincere condolences for the loss of a husband, a friend, a tireless volunteer, and a real gentleman.
