Old Racecourse Spring Meet 2x6hr Rogaine (11 & 12 April 2026)

Awesome days at the ORSM

The bush roagining season kicked off at the home of the Hepburn Burras for 2 x 6hr Old Racecourse Spring Meet. The Burras gave up their home ground for the season opener so we had a Hash House with plenty of cover and hot and cold running water. We had two great days of rogaining in and around Hepburn and Hepburn Springs and the surrounding bush. Cool weather and the occasional shower did not dampen any spirits, with great numbers on both days and a full complement of training teams and coaches on Sunday.

The course was extremely well set and mapped by the first time team of Julian, Janelle and Nick. It was a deceptive course that at first glance didn’t look that big or that hard….. the course had different ideas, plenty of short sharp hills, deep green jungles to cross and steep and deep gullies. The “short” course wasn’t cleared by some of the best rogainers in the state and everybody sang the praises of the well placed controls. For the rest of us there was controls in and around town and in the bush, you could truly choose any adventure you wanted.

It really was an awesome weekend at the Old Racecourse Spring Meet.

As always, these events would quite literally not be possible without the efforts of our wonderful volunteer team. We had an army of volunteers both before, during and after the event including, Ana Spataru, Andrea Gardiner, Andrew McCarthy, Arabella Wilson, Audrey Kottek, Aurelia Wilson, Celia Bolton, Claire Luxford, Daniel Hendrie, Ed Steenbergen, Ellie Gardiner, Gary Buchan, Giulia Folini, Graeme Busch, Grant Jeffrey, Hamish Dixon, Helen Steenbergen, Henrik Behrens, Ian Gordon, Jane Phillips, Janelle Christie, John Gardiner, Julian Wilson, Katie Dale, Michael Tonini, Morag Stewart, Neil Phillips, Nick Klucknow, Nick Somes, Norm O’Bryan, Not Required, Rebecca Monck, Sue Noy, Tim Collyer, Xenia Muenger as well as a number of others that helped in big and small ways on the day.

Also, a shoutout to our coaching squad (Anna Gordon, Ed & Helen Steenbergen, Elizabeth Dornom, Gleb Belov, Gleb Belov , Glen White, Ian Gordon, Ian Wanless, Kerry Williams, Paul Monks, Peter Taylor , Shelley Bambrook, Wendy & Ross) that went out on Sunday with a batch of Rogaine Victoria trainees.

Congratulations to Andrew Mccarthy & Glen White on Saturday and David Rowlands & Alexander Rowlands on Sunday who took out the overall victory on each day. In the special family handicap category where teams were handicapped based on the age of the youngest team member we had Lou King, Antony, Owen, Iris and Elsa Chenhall (1500pts) winning the ORSM Plate on Saturday and Martin and Luca O’Hely (1030pts) winners on Sunday. The handicap is not a category on the results spreadsheet. Our podium was:-
